President Cyril Ramaphosa addresses a dialogue, convened under the theme 'The Economy is Woman', which is organised by the Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa (BWASA) on 29 October 2019 in Johannesburg.
The president said "We are setting up structures to solve the current problems. Structures that will benefit women in leadership and be able to get equal rights and benefits in South Africa,"
“The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is going to donate $1 billion to empower women around the world and I said I want part of that money here in Africa. I’m going to make it a huge program to be appropriated and embraced by various presidents on the continent, and make sure that women are well empowered economically.”
This is after President Ramaphosa and the first lady Tshepo Motsepe met with Bill Gates and his wife Melinda Gates before the business forum.
He further stated that the criminal justice system will work on protecting women in South Africa and it is a worrying factor because it reduces their effectiveness in becoming self made entrepreneurs.
Some women cannot reach their highest level of success due to some men expect a lady to lower her dignity by sleeping with them for higher positions.
Ramaphosa closed the discussion and said he wanst to remove all the toxic things that reduce women to participate in business forums, and that their rights are protected.
In this high criminal rate against women in South Africa he further explained that women cannot not be humiliate by being subjected to rape and being killed for saying 'no' to men demands.
"Women bring life in the world and they support the life they brought in this world with everything they got, their identity should not be downgraded for men's interests.
I would love to openly say that my presidency will empower South African women who are self driven and feel much safer in their own birth country." the president closed the discussion.
