Unemployment rate in South Africa has reached the highest level in 11 years reaching the whooping 29.1% before the end of the 2019 year.
Since the general elections that took place in May earlier this year, all leading parties have been boasting about how to eradicate unemployment rate in South Africa but it seems the number keeps on rising.
The numbers are enough to make you wonder. Somehow, South Africa has 2.2 million more unemployed people than it did this time ten years ago. There has been no truly sharp increase in the unemployment rate in a short burst of time, but rather, a gradual malaise towards the dreaded 30% mark of in the 3rd quarter of 2019.
The only solution to stopping the unemployment in our country is to encourage a large number of people to start owning business and employ other people.
This is directed mostly to recent graduates who feel that their pride does not allow them to work in a low budget job. As it stands any job must be appreciated because there are tons of people who will die for that job.
Another thing graduates should consider is to create group forums on how to invest in themselves. How can they come up with a plan to create employment among themselves.
There is various ways to eradicate poverty but it needs people who are determined and believe in the process. A simple idea such as what is called in the townships 'Stokvel', its a synonym of 'business investment'.
It is not an easy journey to start a business and it is also hard to get employees if your business small because of lack of funds to pay your staff but what matters the most is that you have started something for yourself.
As the economy is in a critical stage in country, we cannot expect the government to support most of our promised social needs. Citizens need to be strategic now on how to create employment, plan for the future.
