It has became a norm in South Africa that thieves target popular events to practice their criminal activities, even with police supervision, a large number of people still file a report of being a crime victim
Gauteng is the first smallest province and highly populated with over 15 million people alone. Dominated by townships and poverty, the province is dealing with a lot of scumbags who take advantage of the events hosted.
One of the biggest event that was hosted at Johannesburg, FNB Stadium in December 2nd 2018, the Global Citizen Festival that had international acts Jay Z and Beyonce was flooded with thieves outside. Fans were targets of various criminal activities from sun set till the end of the show midnight.
It is not a secret that Gauteng is haunted by crime all directions. There are many stories circulating in which South African law enforcement are part of the dilemma the province is facing and others are reported to be friends with the gangsters.
Police who are friends with criminals tend to benefit money twice their salary by conspiring with them. This type of ordeal has given criminals the idea that they are 'bigger than the law' and the same agenda has been adopted and rapidly growing in the communities.

Apart from poverty contributing a lot in this party, the friendship between cops and criminals is the driving force to the rise of crimes in South Africa. If this can stop, the country will be much safe.
